Hi, I’m Aimi, and I’m running for South Lake Tahoe City Council. I hope to earn your vote. 

A bit about me: I moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1997 and have been involved in the community ever since. How did I end up here? I was driving back to Mt. Bachelor and stopped in South Lake Tahoe, bought a $199 Kirkwood pass and never left. Like most, I thought I’d stay for the winter and leave the following summer, 27 years later, I’m still here. Staying was the best decision I ever made. I think we can continue to make Tahoe a beautiful place to live, own a second home, and visit. I’ve always felt a community vibe here and that’s one of the things that makes Tahoe so special. We live in the best place in the world with the best people.

I come to the table with a wealth of experience in community relations, cross-functional collaboration and managing budgets. I believe leaders should be open minded and work well with others. 

I started my career in Tahoe working in the snowsports and tourism industries. I then moved over to the Tahoe Daily Tribune as Assistant Editor of The Action, a weekly events publication. I spent over a decade at Heavenly, first on their marketing team as public relations. In this role I hosted journalists and VIPs from all over the world and introduced them to our beautiful Tahoe. I created and spearheaded unique events like Winter Wake Up Call, 24 Hours of Heavenly, Tahoe Snowcial and Trees of Tahoe that served to highlight our exciting mountain lifestyle. Due to those successes, I was then promoted to Executive Director at the Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation where I tripled the amount of Tahoe youth who had affordable access to skiing and snowboarding through development programs and the STMS Blue Angels program to operate alongside the competitive programs, and fundraisers like the Grapes and Gates, the Kindercup and the Groover’s Challenge.

In 2022 I joined the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe as Development Director because I’m passionate about fundraising for our community youth. I believe all children should have access to amazing afterschool programs and a full summer of experiences and memories. My focus with BGCLT has been on fundraising for the all-inclusive community playground at the Angel of Tahoe/Al Tahoe site. I also manage and lead the annual Tahoe Brewfest and the Boys & Girls Club Golf Classic at Edgewood fundraisers. Since I started this role less than two years ago, I’ve raised over $1 million for the club through these events.

I currently sit on six community commissions and boards: Arts, Culture and Tourism Commission, the Bijou Area Community Advisory Group, the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the Tahoe Chamber, the Embarc Advisory Board, the Multicultural Celebration Committee and the Leadership Lake Tahoe Taskforce.

My husband and I have raised our two teenagers here in Tahoe, they both currently attend South Tahoe High School.
